PONDERING FOR YOUR SOUL

The topic of this blog has been in my heart and on my mind for some time now. It represents the culmination of a lot of what I have pondered regarding myself, our world, and God in recent years. The focus of my life’s work at this time and place is best described by the phrase “soul tending”. So often I/we have neglected our essential selves — one definition of “soul” — leaving us with a sense of being depleted. Could it be that we are often unaware of our deepest longings because we aren’t paying attention to that inner voice that calls to us? Could it be that we are carrying around unattended wounds like a “sack of potatoes”, wondering why life sometimes feels so disjointed and heavy? I wonder.
In recent years we have all experienced deeply personal and social challenges. Consider the impact that COVID has had on us individually and corporately. Add to that the coarseness of the social discourse that relentlessly fills the air and leaves us with a sick feeling in the pit of our stomach. Personal challenges, of course, are a normal part of our lives — loss of loved ones, financial strain, relational stress — causing us to feel overwhelmed and distressed. Is there a more hopeful way forward? I believe so.
I have come to realize that paying attention to our inner being (or soul) is a necessary part of that hopeful path. As we intentionally connect with the deepest part of ourselves, we find renewed strength and a resilience that better equips us to face the challenges in our lives. The spiritual practice of soul-tending is the hopeful path that keeps us grounded.
Spirituality is all about connection, purposefully and intentionally seeking ways to strengthen connections, which includes self, as well as God and others. That is what this blog is all about. Sharing insights designed to tend souls and deepen our spiritual awareness. I invite you to join me on the journey, as Soul Companions. traveling a more hopeful path — the path of soul-tending.
Peace,
